টাঙ্গুয়ার হাওর

বাংলাদেশের সুনামগঞ্জ জেলার ধর্মপাশা ও তাহিরপুর উপজেলায় অবস্থিত টাঙ্গুয়ার হাওর জাতীয় গুরুত্বের এক অনন্য জলাভূমি বাস্তুতন্ত্র এবং আন্তর্জাতিক ফোকাসে এসেছে। হাওরের মধ্যে ৪৬ টি গ্রাম সহ টাঙ্গুয়ার হাওরের আয়তন প্রায় ১০০ বর্গকিলোমিটার (৩৯ বর্গ মাইল) যার মধ্যে ২,৮০২.৩৬ হেক্টর জলাভূমি। এটি ৪০,০০০ এরও বেশি মানুষের জীবিকার উৎস। বাংলাদেশ সরকার ১৯৯৯ সালে টাঙ্গুয়ার হাওরকে তার প্রাকৃতিক সম্পদের অত্যধিক শোষণের ফলে তার সঙ্কটজনক অবস্থার কথা বিবেচনা করে একটি পরিবেশতাত্ত্বিক সমালোচনামূলক অঞ্চল হিসাবে ঘোষণা করে। ২০০০ সালে, হোয়ার অববাহিকাটি রামসার সাইট হিসাবে ঘোষণা করা হয়েছিল - আন্তর্জাতিক গুরুত্বের জলাভূমি। এই ঘোষণার সাথে সাথে সরকার তার প্রাকৃতিক সম্পদ সংরক্ষণে প্রতিশ্রুতিবদ্ধ এবং এই জলাভূমি সুরক্ষার জন্য বিভিন্ন পদক্ষেপ নিয়েছে।

টাঙ্গুয়ার হাওর মাছের উৎপাদনে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করে কারণ এটি দেশের জন্য 'মাদার ফিশারি' হিসাবে কাজ করে।

প্রতি শীতে হাওরে প্রায় ২০০ প্রজাতির প্রবাসী পাখি থাকে। হাওর মাছের একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ উৎস। ১৯৯৯-২০০০ সালে, হাওরের মৎস্যজীবন থেকে সরকার ৭,০৭৩,১৮৪ টাকা আয় করেছে। হাওরে রয়েছে ১৪০ টিরও বেশি প্রজাতির মিষ্টি জলের মাছ। এগুলির মধ্যে প্রধানত: আয়র, গ্যাং মাগুর, বৌম, তারা, গুটুম, গুলশা, টেংরা, তিতনা, গারিয়া, বেটি, কাকিয়া ইত্যাদি গুলি, বালুয়া, বান তুলসী, নলখাগড়া এবং অন্যান্য মিঠা পানির জলাভূমি গাছ এই হাওরে রয়েছে।

হিজল (ব্যারিংটোনিয়া অ্যাকুটাঙ্গুলা), ক্লেমেটিস ক্যাডমিয়া, ক্রাটেভা নুরওয়ালা, ইউরিয়াল ফেরক্স, নেলুম্বো নিউকিফেরা, ওটেলিয়া অ্যালিজোয়েডস, অক্সিস্ট্লমা সেকামোন ভের মতো উদ্ভিদ প্রজাতি। সেকামোন, পঙ্গামিয়া পিনটা, রোজা ক্লিনোফিল্লা এবং টাইফার প্রজাতি রয়েছে।

Tanguar Haor

Tanguar haor located in the Dharmapasha and Tahirpur upazilas of Sunamganj District in Bangladesh, is a unique wetland ecosystem of national importance and has come into international focus. The area of Tanguar haor including 46 villages within the haor is about 100 square kilometres (39 sq mi) of which 2,802.36 hector is wetland. It is the source of livelihood for more than 40,000 people. The Government of Bangladesh declared Tanguar haor as an Ecologically Critical Area in 1999 considering its critical condition as a result of overexploitation of its natural resources. In 2000, the hoar basin was declared a Ramsar site - wetland of international importance. With this declaration, the Government is committed to preserve its natural resources and has taken several steps for protection of this wetland.

Tanguar haor plays an important role in fish production as it functions as a 'mother fishery' for the country.
Every winter the haor is home to about 200 types of migratory birds. The haor is an important source of fish. In 1999–2000, the government earned 70,73,184 Taka as revenue just from fisheries of the haor. There are more than 140 species of fresh water fish in the haor. The more predominant among them are: ayir, gang magur, baim, tara, gutum, gulsha, tengra, titna, garia, beti, kakia etc. Gulli, balua, ban tulsi, nalkhagra and other freshwater wetland trees are in this haor.
Plant species like Hizol (Barringtonia acutangula), Clematis cadmia, Crataeva nurvala, Euryale ferox, Nelumbo nucifera, Ottelia alismoides, Oxystelma secamone var. secamone, Pongamia pinnata, Rosa clinophylla, and Typha species are present.
